Est-ce que vous aimeriez travailler dans les medias? Quelles qualités faut-il posséder ? À votre avis, qu'est-ce qu'il faut pour être un(e) bon(ne) journaliste ou un bon reporter ?

Je ne veux pas travailler dans les medias pour beaucoup de raisons, particulièrement parce que j’étais rédacteur aux informations pour le journal de mon lycée, et il n’était pas amusant ou gratifiant d’être rédacteur ou travailler dans le media. Je pense que les medias ne sont pas suffisamment honnêtes, et selon-moi, il est plus important d’être honnête bien qu’il est moins comfortable d’être franc. Je pense que le media comprometts la vérite en dépit du raffinement, et c’est une mauvaise chose pour tout le monde.
I think to be a good reporter, especially from my own experience writing and editing for my school newspaper, one needs to be a little dishonest and sneaky, which I think is a shame. I know it’s a little unrealistic to hope that the media should be more honest, and it may be cynical to assume that most journalists are treacherous, but I think for the most part most stereotypes concerning the media are true. Despite my disdain for some media though, I appreciate how, especially in democratic countries, people are allowed to express themselves and share information through the media. I just think that because there are so many freedoms and possibilities within the media, it’s all the more sad that few journalists and news reporters accept the invitation to be honest and uphold the integrity of news.

J’ai voulu toujours d’être journaliste, mais je veux écrire pour un magazine du mode. Mais, pendant je suis très intéressée dans le mode, je suis aussi fascinée avec les événements du monde, et les choses comme les politiques et le gouvernement, que beaucoup de personnes pensent sont plus importants que les mannequins maigres et les chaussures chères. Je pense que si je pourrais écrire les articles sur les deux sujets, je serais très heureuse de travailler dans les medias.
I think that to be a good journalist or reporter, a person must be able to discern between what is valid, important news, and what is just gossip. I also think that the news should be reported without bias, especially news concerning politics. In my opinion, a good journalist or reporter is someone who can truly inform the public of a news story, while remaining entertaining but impartial.

Si je n'aime pas les autres occupations autant que je les aime, je voudrais être un journaliste, parce que j’adore écrire. Comme Lara a dit, le media est une profession qui est célèbre pour la tromperie. Au même temps, je voir ceci comme un raison pour me entrer ce domaine. Je suis un rêveur, et, peut-être il n’est pas réaliste, mais je pense que je peux faire une différence.
Pour être un grand journaliste, il faut avoir la curiosité, une bonne style d’écrire, la intelligence, et la hardiesse.
I’ve had to conduct interviews for school before and I know it is so easy to fudge here and there that most journalists end up making a habit of maintaining lax ethical standards. However, I don’t think that is at all necessary to be a good journalist. Careful readers can get a feeling that deceptive reporters are not being straight-forward with their facts, and therefore some of the best journalists have to be honest in order to exude an aura of trust. There are also some journalists that are so good at tainting their articles that it’s hard to tell the difference. The only way to stop that sort of reporting is to allow for freedom of speech and hope that the truth wins out in the end.

Je n’aimerais pas travailler dans les medias parce que je préfère la science et les mathématiques. Je ne peux pas parler bien devant des autres personnes – une qualité très importante pour un bon reporter – et je ne voudrais pas inquiéter les victimes des catastrophes. Il faut posséder de confiance et être déterminé.
A good journalist must get every side of the story and report all the facts. I do not like when the media reports their opinion on a subject. It seems like they are just filling up time. I do like to hear different sides of a story, but only if it helps report the situation. If the media wants to give an opinion, it should be reserved for the internet, instead of giving it on TV when people want just the basic facts.

Je ne voudrais pas travailler dans les medias, mais s’il faut que j’y travaille, j’aimerais être photojournaliste. Comme photojournaliste, je peux mélanger deux choses que j’aime bien- l’art et le voyage. Aussi, je ne veux pas être journaliste parce que je ne crois pas que le journalisme est la meilleure façon dont on peut aider le monde- c’est important, car le monde doit sache ce qui passe alors il peut améliorer la société, mais pour moi, il y a beaucoup d’autres façons mieux.
I think that to be a good journalist, you have to be extremely personable- some people just can’t make friends easily, and to be able to find good stories, I think that that talent at making friends from strangers is very important. Of course, a journalist must also be a good writer- if the article or script isn’t well thought out and put together, the reader or viewer will lose interest. Thus, an element of creativity is also very important.

Les gens qui travaillent devant une caméra ont des vies publiques et ils sont sur la sellette comme Katie Couric et Oprah. Donc, leurs actions et leurs avis sont jugés par la population qui les regarde sur la télévision. Je ne voudrais pas avoir une vie si ouverte, et j’aime ma confidentialité. Un bon journaliste ou reporter doit savoir que son travail est pour le public et il doit écrire les articles et faire son reportage avec cette connaissance.
Journalists and reporters need to have a professional and photogenic appearance so that their charisma can be reflected both to whom they are interviewing and also to the audience that watches them at work. Also, journalists should possess a sense of adventure as well as an overwhelming amount of patience because their work can take them all over the world and they must deal with a variety of personalities.

I think I wouldn't like working in the media atmosphere. It's a lot of pressure for a
journalist. However, there's a good point : culture. In fact, a journalist has good
opportunities to travel. Moreover, he usually has a very good knowledge of the world,
about almost all domains because the journalists are sent all around the world and they
can cover a lot of different subjects. So the main reason I wouldn't like being a
journalist is the cadence of work, the pressure that can be put by the boss and the big
dedication in work. By saying dedication, I mean responsibilities, deadlines journalists
have to face with. But it's really an interesting job.
Pour être journaliste, je pense qu'il faut être très méticuleux. En effet, lors de la
rédaction d'un article, il faut bien faire attention aux mots que l'on choisit, sinon la
phrase en question put être interprétée de manière différente. Ensuite, il faut être
curieux selon moi pour être un bon journaliste. Lorsque l'on travaille sur un sujet bien
précis, il ne faut pas s'intéresser à des faits globaux, il faut plutôt essayer au
contraire de rechercher le maximum d'informations. De plus, il faut savoir gérer la
pression parfois très grande du patron pour la rédaction d?articles. Enfin, ce qui est
pour moi le plus important pour un journaliste, c'est le fait de tout le temps rester
objectif. Il ne faut jamais laisser la subjectivité s'installer, sinon les articles
rédigés ou les interviews réalisées perdent de leurs intérêts.

Je ne veux pas travailler dans les medias du télé parce que je n'aime pas avoir beaucoup d'attention. Aussi, je ne veux pas devenir écrivaine parce que c'est un travail avec beaucoup de les tensions, et c'est difficile pour avancer. Les journalistes ont percevu d'être coup-jarret, et je ne suis pas comme ça. Les medias aussi changent la vérité de temps en temps, et je ne suis pas en accord de ça.
To be a good journalist, one must be voracious and ambitious, and always looking for the next breaking story before anyone else finds out about it. Journalists have to be able to spin stories according to their employer, whether it is a newspaper, a magazine, or a news station. You have to be able to write in a unique fashion that will set you apart from the thousands of other reporters vying for the promotion along with you, and probably do some underhanded things to advance because the business is so competitive. I could never handle working in the media, especially such a political vehicle like the news channels. They are so biased, and I could not work for an employer trying to promote a view that I didn't agree with.

Personnellement, je n’aimerais pas être journaliste parce que le travail est trop implique avec l’écriture. Je n’écris pas bien en anglais ou en mes autres langues, donc ce n’est pas pour moi. J’ai des amis qui sont les éditeurs du magazine et du journal a USC. Ils spécialisent dans le journalisme et il semble comme ils sont complètement obsédés par ses travails.
They tend to singularly focus on deadlines for articles that are to be featured in the publications. According to my friend, it is incredibly difficult to balance working for the newspaper with school work and a social life. They both seem to be great at what they do because they ask the right questions and consistently write great articles. I think in order to do what they do you must be passionate about investigating stories. I admire them, but know that I could never be them.

Non, je n’aimerais pas travailler dans les medias. Mais si j’avais besoin de travailler dans les medias, je serais photojournaliste. Je crois que ça serait le travail médiatique le plus gratifiant, parce qu’on peut voyager et attirer l’attention aux problèmes humains du monde. Pour travailler dans les medias, il est nécessaire d’être extraverti, compétitif, et créatif. On doit avoir des idées innovatrices, et il faut être diligente.
Ideally, I think that journalists and reporters should be unbiased, but it seems like this is never the case. You also have to be able to deal with ridiculous amounts of pressure, like deadlines and the reaction of the target audience. You have to be able to find interesting and new material, but also must be patient when working on assignments. You just have to be able remain confident throughout, or you won’t get anywhere in the industry.

Je ne serais pas une bonne journaliste, et je n’aimerais pas travailler dans les medias. Il faut être sociable et pas timide, mais je suis timide. Un journaliste doit être brave aussi, parce que quelque personne n’aime pas son reportage, et les membres du media deviennent célébrités en son marché. In order to be a good journalist, one must have a very strong self esteem and be able to take criticism from the public and other members of the media. In modern media, it has also become somewhat necessary to be willing to compromise one’s morals to “get the story.” The media takes a lot of criticism for what they are willing to do to boost ratings, and most of it is well deserved. I think there should be stronger censorship of the media, if not from the government, then from the public.

Reporter isn't only a simple job for me !!! It's very special. I wasn't good in french expression, so it would be very difficult for me to write an article or a speech everyday. And a reporter hasn't much free time to spend with his family. He is obliged to travel in many countries, if he is an international reporter ! It isn't very easy for his family. However, he discovers many countries sometimes very fabulous, and he learns a lot about several cultures.
Je pense qu'un bon journaliste doit être très explicite, et savoir relater parfaitement les choses, tout en restant quand même neutre. Le but d'un journaliste est de ne pas prendre parti, et parfois cela est difficile. Il doit être le plus clair possible dans ce qu'il raconte. Il faut aussi qu'il soit attrayant, et captivant à écouter, avoir une voix qui passe bien aide beaucoup. Enfin, il est indispensable qu'il sache s'exprimer en public...!!

To be honnest, I haven't wondered myself about this before.
But I think it could be interesting to experience even for quite a short time. Because medias are todays really part of our lifes, it is quite impossible to stay away from any kinds of information because TV, radio, newspapers make you aware of it. That's why being able to understand how all of these information are collected, the different processes of the redaction of an article or of a report could be interesting things to understand and to practise.
If I were a journalist, I would be a sports journalist because I'm really keen on many sports, as US basketball, soccer, also because I would enjoy to go everywhere on earth to see soccer games in brasil for example.
The main skills of a journalist are, in my opinion, being able to collect and to deal with many kinds of information, trying to be the more objective you can in the article or the report you are making.
In quality papers, it is also being capable of dealing with the pressure given by the chief redactor when you are "border line" or too aggressive with sensitive topics.
Etre un bon reporter cela correspond pour ma part à toujours savoir être présent au bon moment, là ou l'action se passe afin d'avoir un maximum d'informations sur son sujet.
C'est ensuite savoir regrouper et recouper ses informations pour en améliorer la fiabilité.
Et enfin c'est disposer d'un certain talent d'écriture car chaque choix de mot est important pour une bonne compréhension de l'article.

When i was in the secondary school, i had been asked to write an article about the life in the school. What i did. My article has been published but not the way i originally wrote it. I was angry. Just to say that, what i don't like about the media is that sometimes articles are modified by the editor. I am interested in writing if i can express myself freely and not always have to agree with the newspaper's opinion. To be a good reporter it is important to write well, to have a good contact with people and work in an ethical manner.
Les medias sont très souvent critiqués.Le principe de sélection des informations c'est la recherche du sensationnel, du spectaculaire.Les médias peuvent mettre en scène la réalité, décident de la hiérarchie des évènements. La poursuite du scoop peut amener certains journalistes à tricher. Toutefois, il existe encore la presse sérieuse,des reporters qui font des enquêtes sur les fronts de guerre, sur les gouvernements,les dictatures..en un mot des sujets sensibles dans le but de faire changer les choses.Certains se font emprisonner ou tuer. C'est a ce moment que l'on se rend compte que la liberté d'expression est encore utopique.

I think if i would like to work in media it's will be for travels. An independant journalist go everywhere in the world it's very interesting. Moreover, a journaliste has a good knowledge of the world and have his personnel vision of many great events. But the pressure and the impossibility to have a real family life is a real inconvenience when you work in media.
Pour travailler dans les médias, l'une des qualités les plus importantes est le self-control. Si chaque jour vous ne supportez pas la pression, vous tiendrez pas longtemps comme journaliste.
Avoir un bon esprit de synthèse est aussi un avantage pour avoir suffisament de recul sur les événements qui se sont passés dans la journée . Pour être un bon journaliste il faut être altruiste et rester objectif sur les événements qu'on peut traiter.

I would like work in the media because it's a good way to express yourself, it's also a possibility to share your point of view. All sectors are concerned by the Medias, so you can talk about the subjects that you prefer. In my opinion it's also a way to become famous when a lot of people are interested by your article or your TV program.
Cependant aujourd'hui les journalistes ne s'expriment pas librement, ils doivent faire attention à leur image et à leur propos, ils subissent la pression du journal ou de la chaine qui les diffuse mais ils doivent aussi veiller à ne pas choquer l'opinion publique. Je pense que pour être un bon journaliste il faut avoir beaucoup de personnalité pour passer outre ces barrières.

Je ne souhaite pas travailler dans les médias parce que je ne souhaite pas devenir un personnage publique. Etre une personne connu ne m'attire pas du tout. Cela entraîne beaucoup de problème que je ne suis pas près à assumer. Je ne veux pas qu'on fouille ma vie.
I think that the only way to work in media is to be an anonymous. To be a reporter don't attract me at all because I'm not a writer. A reporter has to find good subject that will interest people. It's the only way for him to become a good reporter and to be well paid.

I don't think I would like to work in the media, because there are quite a lot of things that I dislike in it. In my opinion, there are too much medias and reporters that exaggerate the truth. Moreover, very often they tell so much about a fact without real importance that they succeed to change people's behaviour : they've taken too much influence and I think it's quite dangerous because, in fact, they can control the way that people think and act.
Thenceforwards, working in the media doesn't attract me.
Cependant, même si les médias ont tendance à exagérer certains faits ou à trop en parler, tous les journalistes ne sont pas comme ça. Pour être un journaliste "sérieux", je pense que les qualités nécessaires sont un bon contact avec les gens, mais aussi la rigueur, la conscience professionnelle qui permet de ne pas se laisser influencer. Pour être un bon reporter, il faut donc être sincère (ne pas masquer la vérité), et ne pas chercher à embellir ou modifier des faits pour que le média fasse de l'audimat.
