What are your thoughts expectations for the trip to France? What are you most excited about? most intimidated by? What challenges are you facing during your preparation? What are you looking most forward to? Etc.

I cannot wait to go to France! My biggest fear is that my passport will get lost in the mail, now that it's finally been mailed. Of course, knowing me, I still can't decide what to pack. How do I only pack three or four outfits for 10 days?! And the fear that my luggage will get lost...I can't live with only one set of clothes!
J’espère qu’un bon voyage en France. Je ne vais jamais en Europe. J'espère que les Français peuvent comprendre le francais que je parle. Si les personnes ne me comprennent pas, je ne pourrais dire rien. Je veux voir beaucoup de sites et manger comme les Français. Mais, est-ce que les nourritures était très etrange ? Et si j’oublie les noms de mes amis français ? Ainsi embarrassant ! Je veux me distraire pendant que je suis là.

J’ai peur d’utiliser le français! J’ai étudié la langue il y a cinq ans, mais je pense que je peux oublier tous ma vocabulaire, ou ne comprends pas les gens qui parlent avec moi. Mais aussi, je suis heureuse pratiquer. Les américains en général n’étudient pas le français, et il est impossible parler français en la caroligne du sud. Il est difficile apprendre une langue quand on ne voit pas qu’il est utile. Maintenant, je vais écouter tout la monde parlent cette langue pour le premier fois. Je suis excité et nerveuse parce que c’est une situation nouvelle.
I am very excited about the schedule that y’all in France have made for us! I love museums (because I’m a nerd) and I will enjoy seeing as many as possible while I’m in France! The champagne vineyard will also be very interesting. When I first read the schedule I gave a very girly squeal and made my roommate look at what I was going to do. She was jealous. I am expecting to be challenged, though. As I already mentioned, the language will probably be both difficult and helpful. I expect to encounter many cultural differences while I’m in France. I’m pretty conservative, as anyone who came to Columbia saw , and I’m pretty certain that I’ll be challenged in that regard. It’ll be good though! I enjoy to see different lifestyles, so I’ll learn a lot from the trip.

Je suis tres heureux. Je ne peux pas attendre pour aller a Troyes--et voir le match de foot! Aussi, je veux voir une ville en France qui n'est pas Paris...J'ai deja visite le sud de la pays aussi, mais c'est different.
My biggest challenge is deciding what gifts to bring. I am not sure what I am looking forward to the most, but I would really enjoy seeing my friend Quentin again...and all the amazing things we have planned for us in Troyes.

Mes espérances...Je dois dire où j'étais à Paris l'année dernière, j'étais effrayée. J'étudiais français depuis six ans avant aller en France mais je ne pouvais pas dire plus que "Pardonnez-moi...Quelle heure est-il?" Vous pouvez comprendre pourquoi je veux parler en français plus que l'autre fois. Je veux être plus responsable, plus indépendante, etc. Je crains que je n'aura pas suffisamment d'argent et qu'il sera un problème avec ma carte de crédit. Je dois être tranquille ou je m'inquiète.
Despite my worries, I am very excited about going back. It is liberating being away from all of the hustle of school and family (even boyfriends!). I am excited about shopping and eating wonderful food (eating is my favorite pastime) and watching football--REAL football. Mostly I am looking forward to conversing in a language I love and doing something different for a change. Travel is a passion of mine and I love changes of scenery and new cultures and...I could go on forever, but it'll suffice to say that the entire experience will be surreal.

Je pense que le chose plus difficile pour moi avant mon voyage a Troyes est faire mes valises. Je sais que je fais mes valises toujours avec beaucoup de vetements et autres choses...je ne peux pas arreter car je pense, "quoi si?"!! C'est terrible! Je dois avoir mon séchoir à cheveux, mon maquillage, etc. Quand j'arrives en France, j'ai peur que je vais oublier comment parler francais! AHH!!! I am very excited about the trip, but I think it will be difficult in some ways. I hope I will learn how to speak better, especially with my pronunciation. I worry that some people may not understand what I am saying because I don't have a good pronunciation, and I hope they won't pick at me! :) The trip will be a great way to improve listening and speaking but also a great way to learn about French culture.

J'espere que le voyage en France est interessant et relâchant. Je dois avoir les vacances avec peu ou rien a fait. Je suis la plus excite pour la nourriture. J'adore la nourriture francais, donc je pense que ca sera la mieux partie de mon voyage.
I'm also really looking forward to getting to see the architecture in Troyes. I love old gothic churches and cathedrals, so I am hoping to see several of those. I'm not really facing any challenges in preparing. Except that, my bank does not change dollars to Euros, so I was sent to Wachovia, but they only change money for customers, so I have to figure out a way to change my money before I leave. I know that there is a place in Irmo that changes money for the general public, but the challenge is in getting there.
Mais, autrement que cela, je pense que le voyage sera tres bien et sera passer avec rien de problems.

Pour moi, je suis inquiété environ ma prononciation et j'espère qu'elle s'améliore pendant en France. Aussi, je suis inquiété pour mon bagage. je déteste des lignes aériennes. Si le bagage de quelqu'un est détruit, il serai le mien. Je ne peux pas choisir une chose à exciter environ ! je suis très excité de voir nos amis français et pour passer les temps avec Ghita.
For preparation, I was stressed because the wal-mart I went to, which was supposed to be *Super*, had nothing I needed. A few days later I went to Target and found everything! I am just about all packed and have a ton of room in my duffel. However, I haven't bought gifts for my host yet because I am indecisive.
Aussi, je n'aime pas le fromage s'il n'est pas fondé. C'est une problème parceque les francais adore le fromage!!!
For Paris, I am just looking forward to exploring and trying to cram into the day as many things as possible. Probablement, j'aurai acheter un appareil-photo jetable.

Je ne peut pas choisir la chose dont je suis le plus excité. J'aime beaucoup le voyager en général -- la nourriture, l'histoire, l'architecture, les gens, la langue...Tout est si excitant!!
I am somewhat intimidated by the communication aspect, although I am sure I'll improve as I go along and the trip will help me overall. I am also slightly intimidated by the packing thing...packing lightly is NOT one of my skills. :-)
